Caught this $1500 winner in Elliott Bay just past 5:00am on 7-19-03, exactly 1 year to the day I caught my 1st King.



Salmon weighed in on boat at 20lb 8oz in calm water. "Official" derby weight was 17lb 13oz at 2:10pm that day. Fish dehydrated, even on ice, since caught. White meat King (didn't know there was such a thing).

BTW: Muckleshoot tribesmen supposedly going to do a test run this week to see if fishery can support their allotment of fish. If so, Elliot Bay season continues.

Checkers reported to us that every 5th boat out of 160-180 had fish. We don't know where they get those numbers or if ALL fish are included in that report. I take every bit of info from them with a grain of salt.

Congrats SFJ, dam wish I would have known about the derby. Always next year. Does Delta ever advertise this Derby? Never knew about it. Oh well still had a good day Sat. morning taking home a 22lb king and a 8lb Silver. Again good job man.

I caught a 30 Pound white king out of Ilwaco last year. They taste exactly the same I think. Beautiful fish man.

I don't think Delta Marine publicly advertises their derbys as it's only open to the Delta Marine Employees and their subcontractors.

Paid $10 entry fee and garnered $1500...nice return I'd say and a great tasting fish to boot! White meat salmon, very interesting. Never seen one in my very short time of salmon fishing nor have I ever eaten one until Monday night. Next to no fish taste at all. Very scrumptious!
