Anyone know how much wait to expect going into Canada mid-Afternoon this Friday at Blaine.

Need to plan to make a reservation on the Twassen ferry at 5:45.

Thanks!

I don't know if this helps or not, but it can give you the wait now.

Chip,

If I recall, it takes me about 2 hours 45 minutes to get to the ferry from Seattle when traffic is moderate. This has been when the border crossing has been 15 minutes or less. To be safe I budget an extra hour for traffic and/or border delays.

What is this Tswassen ferry reservation business? Should I be making a reservation for Saturday morning? What is the advantage?

On a Friday afternoon I would expect lines getting over the border. The ferry will be a huge line. If you don't have a reservation and are pulling a boat, I wouldn't count on getting on the first ferry. You will likely wait 2 to 3 hours. I have learned over the years to avoid the Tswassen-Duke Pt ferry on a Friday going and Sunday coming unless I'm reserved.
I just tried to book a reservation for next Monday and the only thing left was the 8:15pm and 10:45pm boat. So these reservations book fast. The truckers use them almost exclusively. They allocate two lines to reservation on overheight rigs and then after that the boats will hold about 1 and 1/4 more lines give or take a few rigs. Coming back I usually hit the border in the late evening after 10pm and get right through.

listen for the border lineup times on radio 1130am. If the waits at both peach arch and the pac hwy/truck crossing are 45 minutes plus go to the aldergrove crossing at lynden. The waits are usually much smaller. When you get through the border, take the very first left turn onto zero ave. Follow along this and it will take you to the pac hwy/truck crossing and from there it is qiuck to get to the ferry. I did this route when coming home last saturday from seattle and it worked very good.

Last Saturday I hit Blain at around 11:15 a.m. and the line was way back, past the exit to the gas station. We sat for about 30 minutes and then decided it wan't worth it. Not sure how long the wait was, but it appreared to be a couple hours at the best.

I don't cross the border a lot, but I am told this is not the norm, although it does get pretty busy on summer weekends, just like everything else.
