Work was slow so we skipped out for an afternoon trip to Pt. Defiance. On the water by 2:30 and fished until around 9:00. A few takedowns and one landed around 16-17 lbs. This was on the B-2 mini (Thanks Downriggin!) fishing deep in 175 feet of water off the slagpile. Lots of bait.

Apparently the morning bite was strong. Both the boathouse and the ramp attendant reported lots of fish.

Outstanding! Glad I could help out...

What size hooks are you using? I keep seeing folks say they had 2,3 or 4 misses or take downs. Don't be afraid to throw 6/0 or 7/0 on the line... This will definitely help out on the hook ups...

Sure sad about missing the summer fishing, but looking foward to the winter! 104 days to go!

The hooks on the B-2 were the same ones you sent (can't remember the size). What is interesting is that I also fished a glow green hootchie with the same size hooks but we missed 2-3 takedowns on this one yesterday plus 2 tds in EB over the weekend. First takedown on the b-2 resulted in a hookup. These are the same size hooks, but I noticed that on the b-2 mini you rigged the back hook dangles further back behind the last tentacle of the squid. Wondering if this has something to do with it, I was thinking of rerigging the hootchies with the last hook farther back.

The way the hooks are tied close and further back is definitely a plus on the hook ups.
Most salmon will swat at a lure 2 or more times before they hook up. If you place the hooks back, they'll be lucky not to get hooked the first time.

Those are 5/0 hooks and should be ok. If you're missing fish on 5/0, you can set the hooks even further back or go to a larger size. I generally like the lead hook about 2/3 back from the tenacles (both hook points not impeded).

I use the 5/0 throughout the year with the exception of summer.

I might add.... for even more hook-ups, add a med or larger Cheater in front of that B2. Just charge the B2 with a flash... The Cheater make a tremendous amount of nosie in the water. This will surely pi$$ them Kings off
