Nowhere on the Skagit is open for targeting humpies right now. Below Gilligan Creek will open August 16th, above will open September 16th. The daily limit for salmon will be 4, no more than 3 coho, 2 chums, release all kings.

Papaslap, the Skagit is a great river to float for Humpies with the wife and kids. There are some very mellow floats down low and there is no better way to spend a sunny August afternoon that catching a limit and releasing a bunch more humpies.

You should NOT be fishing for humpies until the river opens. Check the other thread for details.

Watch out for wardens on wave runners on the lower Skagit. They nailed a lot of unsuspecting happy humpy eaters a few years ago.

no one was targeting the humpies we were fishing for cutts. and you can't keep the humpies from hiting your gear. and as long as the river is open and you want to fish then you will have to put up with them.
