Just wanted to say howdy! I've been "lurking" for several months now and thought a voice from Oregon was needed. Every now and then someone mentions an Oregon river but not too often. I fish the Siletz, Nestucca, santiam and others at least twice a week, sometimes more and am more than willing to trade information. I am currently in the Navy and stationed on Whidbey Island, haven't done any fishing in Washington yet, always head home to fish with family. Anyway, glad to be a part of the board, feel free to ask about any of the rivers mentioned.

Welcome to the board. Oregon has some great fishing but its quite a long drive. I just fish for summers and springers down there. I stay closer to home for winters and salmon. Should be some good fishing off the beach at Whidbey Island. We caught a few resident silvers on this side up at Point No Point.

Steelheadman, where do you fish for the summers? I read the counts yesterday, over 1,000 steelies recycled from the siletz falls already. You can be that's where I'll be monday and tuesday!

Siletzangler, I fish the lower gorge. This is where they dump the recycled fish. Its been a little over a month since I've been there. The reports I've heard recently are slow. Saw some reports on www.ifish.net last week too. The fish are holed up with lockjaw waiting for some rain. Good luck if you go. Chaser, The North fork closed a couple of years ago. I even fished with an old North forker last trip.

Steelheadman, don't listen to the reports. The secret to the siletz is to hit it during the week and do some walking. Put in at the locked gate above moonshine and walk a few miles to get above anyone else. I usualy start at the boulder patch and fish up to buck creek. I started fishing it in may this year after returning from the gulf and absolutely slayed them for a month straight while on leave. That is a pisser about the upper river, used to be awesome winter fishing in the north fork.

I am new to this board also, but since the Siletz is my home water thought I would respond to this thread. Siletzangler you must be fishing Buck Creek on the weekends since its about a 16 mile round trip from Moonshine .I have heard that they might be going to close the gorge down due to dry weather. This time of year I fish Coyote Rock for salmon, we got 2 last weekend #12,#25.just getting started.
