I had the misfortune of breaking the crank on my 1994 90 horse johnson the other day. frown cry Mechanic says it is not worth fixing. I would love to get a new Yami or Honda 4 stroke, but cost may be out of my league.
Any one out there have any experience with a new Yami 2 stroke, Suzuki 4 stroke, or the Evinrude or Johnson Ficht motors???
Any help or opinions would be helpful.
I also would like to know what is the protocol with the old motor?? If I have the shop pull the old motor off do they keep it, give it to me, give me a discount if they keep it for parts, trade in value??? Never been down this road so any help is appreciated!

I think Fishtale is right. A 94 really isn't that old for an outboard, so I would definately get a second opinion before I'd give up hope on her!

One thing you might want to note is that the four strokes are heavy. A Suzuki 90 HP 4 stroke is >100 pounds heavier then a 90 HP Yamaha 2 stroke 90, and a Ficht or Opti Merc 90 is 80 pounds heavier.

Don't know if it's what you are looking for or not but there is a 90hp for sale on the ifish.net classifieds for $4800.
