The week of Aug. 11 ill be staying at Mikes resort and was wondering if theres good bottom fishing(will have boat) where and what. Or is it not worth it because of the canary closure. Also the salmon fishing near Hoodsport, what to use and what tides. Any tips would be appreciated.

I can't help much with the Hoodsport salmon thing, but can tell you there is dang little in the way of good bottomfishing in the Canal.

They are pretty much all wiped out.

I would have to agree with surecatch. Bottom fishing in the canal isn't very good. At least from what I have expirienced. There may be times when it is better but I have never seen it. To top it off I believe that you can only keep one fish. So it's almost not worth the time.

Lilliwap is a good area to try for Kings. I did good there last year using point wilson darts (candlefish). Green and yellow worked good.
