Not only did this flounder try to get a quick meal by going after my spoon. Something made a quick meal out of the flounder.

Funny, I caught a flounder at three tree yesterday that had a chunk missing. A few days ago we saw a dorsal fin milling around on the surface right off Redondo. Went under about 20 feet in front of our boat before we could see what it was. Figured it was a popoise or something... maybe not? Anybody else see this?

Did you feel the flounder get the bite while you were playing it?

Had a dogfish hit a flounder I hooked,
it wouldn't let go! It was like watching "When Animals Attack!" it was thrashing on the surface, until it bit the damn flouner in half!
Same place as Easy's pic...Redondo.

Yea, it was probably one of those big 4 foot dogfish that love to invade us this time of year for their spawning parties. Look at the nice clean dogfish shaped bite...sharp leader rippin' teeth ripped that liitle dude to shreds!

Up in Alaska we would be reeling in a small 15-30 pound halibut and would have big halibut come up and latch on to them. I seen a guy catch a 200+ pound halibut once and something like this happened. He was fighting in a small ling cod and this big halibut came up and down his cod. Well, he feed the fish and the halibut down the hole thing and he ended up getting the halibut in.

HAHAHA, i took a picture that was exactally like that of the flounder i hooked. I thought you stole my pic! LOL. Hooked it and while i was reeling in i felt a big tug then pulled up 3/4 of a flounder, but it was still kickin!!

A few years back I had 4 or 5 dogfish taking bites of my salmon right at the boat frown

Could that have been a ling cod?

OK, the real question is did you still eat it? Or is that like eating road kill?

Minibear- I thought the same thing...for a second. The bite mark looks pretty doggy.

I have a friend who uses small live flounder as bait for lings and does really well. They pound flounder.
