If anyone stumbles upon a 4 horse/4 stroke longshaft Tohatsu motor for sale by unsavory characters, please post here. Less than 10 months old, like new condition, stolen about a week ago while tied up at Elliot Bay Marina. Dirty thieves.

I've decided to put steel chokers on my kicker!
Bring your bolt cutters you *******s!, and pack a lunch if ya' want my kicker! evil
I can't believe that all of these kickers are being stolen. Somebody has to be buying them, otherwise they wouldn't bother.

The police just busted a forty four year old tweeker from belfair he stole a kicker (probably many) from the port orchard marina and sold it on ebay to someone in Idaho!

If your boat in being stored for any length of time you can tempararily epoxy some razor blades where the would be thief would grab the motor. It worked really good in high school to prevent stolen radios and we always found the guy who busted in to get it.

While I love the razor blade idea, I seem to recall in law school learning that the would-be thief could actually sue YOU for damages and prevail if you set him up like that and he got hurt. Just a bit of free legal advice worth roughly what you paid for it. beer

Steeli Dan you are correct.
I am not a attorney but my parents are and I remember when someone had broken into my car in highschool I had the same idea about putting sharp objects behind my stero, till my mom informed me about the trouble that I could get into if the thief deceide to sue.

How ironic, the thiefs geto steal , but if they get hurt in the process they can sue you.. rolleyes

Sorry to hear about your kicker. I have had that same great expeiance of showing up ready to head out and the motor is gone cry cry

If you purchase items on ebay such as small outboards, gps units, depth finders, etc.. ask the seller for the serial number and the name of the person who origanally purchased the item. If it is a new unit such as the one above they should be able to give you this info. You may also contact the the manufacturer with the serial number and name to see if the item was reported stolen or if the name matches. Some companys have the ability to make notes and attach them to records for each unit so notify the company if your item is stolen.
Also on ebay be careful of units that are not complete such as small outboard with no tank or broken clamps, gps units with no power cables, sounders with no transducer, etc... as these can be a tip off the the item may be stolen.
