Went down to the skok for my first time today and had a blast. I bought the pass at hunters and fished the lower river. There were alot of people there but everyone was nice. I saw about 10 kings landed and about half were bright. A big school of about 15 went right past me but they didn't bite. Alot of people fishing above the bridge shoulder to shoulder. Almost everyone I talked to had caught something or released one.

So what's the deal with the passes? Is it required to walk in or just to drive in?

i'm gonna assume that they charge to fish on their property, i think the guys park on the side of the road

i'd think that if you stayed below the high water mark you'd be okay anyway though...

The charge is just to drive in and park. People are allowed to walk the road for free. Talk to the the guys at Hunters store and they will tell you or sell you a gate key/pass for 50 bucks.

The pass at Hunters may be important in the near future. I was down on the skok today and the word is the state patrol wants to make to road a no parking zone. Seems it is quite dangerous to have so many fisherman hanging out on the road near traffic. I personnally don't understand this as nearly every car that goes through there slows way down and are very courteous to the pedestrians. Wish people driving on Purdy cutoff would do the same. Just keep in mind that 50 bucks isn't really all that much when you have a safe place to park and you won't have to hump out that 15-40 pound monster you get from the river. Good luck and tight lines.
