My buddy and I just bought a used boat and lo and behold it came with two Penn electric downriggers......we can't figure out why they each have 4 wires though, anyone out there have the skinny?

I'm used to one + and one - wire on 12 V.

good question, if memory serves, two are 12V + and -. The other two are for a switch that can be mounted whereever to run them up and down. I never hooked up that feature.

That is correct the green and white, I believe are for a remote switch. Just ignore and use +(red) and -(black)....

Thanks gentlemen thumbs . That makes sense about the remote switch, it would make it a heckuva lot easier to run them both up and down from the front of the boat if you had a bunch of rookies on board! I think I'll use BNelson's advice and ignore, just one less thing to corrode.

Tight lines to all!
