Took some friends fishing this morning. A beautiful day on the water.

My son got his first king - 6#.

And his friend caught the twin.

My buddy fought something for an hour that we hoped was a monster king... but could never get it to move much, so we tightened the drag down to try and lift it but the line eventually gave. We hooked it 160' down in 250' feet of water out in the open. Maybe it was some floating gear. Someone said it could have been a six-gill shark. Wish we had at least gotten a look at it.

Maybe you had a seal.... They take a lot of line. We had a tough day. One silver about 5#. Didn't see many caught. Marked a lot of fish shallow. What depth were you at? By the way, anything going on at Dolphin point? I guess it is wait until next year for the great sunrise, and downtown views....

On Sunday it was my third try and finally got fish! I got there 4:15a.m. and it was zoo out there. I started fishing 5:ooa.m. and I had first hit at 6:30 near mouth of river. 71/2# king. And another hit was 7:30 and 5# coho. 8:00 3# coho again but I released it. How did everybody else do on Sunday? And what is final count?

Well Kaiko Ken, let's just say I was holding on to the wrong rod when my first fish hit. Fishing in the same water as you, (probably even saw and talked to each other), worked the bait alittle when nature came a calling, got the old pi$$ can out, then proceeded to do my business just lookin' at the other boats and as I turned to check on the rod, it was doubled over and bouncin. I tried to hurry as fast as I could to get to the rod, but couldn't release tension and lost it. beathead At least I was able to release tension on the other rod and don't think anybody saw the first take down, so baited up, dropped down and worked the bait alittle then got thirsty and as I went to go get something out of the cooler, looked up and the rod was bouncin and doubled over again, then went slack, then hit hard again. Was able to get the rod out but wasn't fast enough to set the hook. The bad thing on that was that friends on the other boats saw that one and got harrassed on that bigtime. thumbs Guess I got a sour taste in my mouth and will have to wait next years opener to redeem myself.

Got 5 kings over the 3 days with my partner to 25#. Over the last 4 weekends our boat landed 18 kings, 1 10# blackmouth, and numerous coho. This was one of the best summers I've seen in EB - and I've been fishing it for over 40 years when my dad rowed a wooden boat out from Lloyd's.
