Went out sunday morning with the knowledge that I had company coming in the afternoon, so instead of going to the San Jauns I took the boat and a good friend down to the ort Casey ramp and launched. Fog was pretty thick so we just made our way along the beach dragging pink hootchys and flashers 20 feet down....we went about a mile when we seen some fish jumping so we circled for a while. The juat would not hit the hootchys so we rigged up a few buzzbombs and the day was on....we sat in one place between the bombing range and the rake station and caught fish after fish. I figure we had at least 17 double hook ups. you could see the schools swim by the boat and 15 would follow the fish you hooked in sometims biting at the buzzbomb hanging out the fishs mouth. we had a great time........In the interest of pertecting our fish nex time you get check at the ramp, ask the fish checker for a release stick. its a 22 inch stick (same length as a leagle chinook) and has a coffee cup hook on the end. when fishing these huge schools switch to a single hook, I like using the swaish style hooks because the release easy, when you get the fish up by the boat hook the line between the bomb and the hook and while holding the line with one hand lift on the stick.....the hook well slide right out of the fishs mouth and you never touched the fish(no scales knocked off) keep fishing this way only keeping the ones that take the hook deep and you wel have a estimated 40 to 60 fish day like we had....DJ
