Fished 8-19 with my son and caught this dandy. He netted it!!! Of course he had help but what a blast. He netted his first the week before, about a 14 lbr. Two trip two great fish and two great memories. Last sunday night we were watching the sun set off our porch, this was a few days after his first fish, he said "Dad, you thinking about salmon?" I said "yeah, are you?" He said "yeah, can't get em out of my mind, maybe we better go salmon fishing again" Well we went tuesday night and hooked this bruiser and now he's hooked. Took my little brother the next night and he landed for kings. Two shakers and two keepers. I guess I should keep bringing beginners luck with me!! All off pt defiance.

Always great to see a youngster catch the bug! My boy is 16 and still loves to catch fish, though with school and sports we don't go together as often as we used to. Enjoy it while you can!

Great job getting the little guy out there with you, now you just need to get him a punch card and a Scooby Doo rod. Punchcards are free for kids. My 4 year old has 5 punches so far, and my 7 year old has 10, plus one steelhead. Great partners for sunny days, and REI has a good selection of raingear for the little ones so they can join you on rainy days, too. Just start out with short trips, lots of food and drink, and something to entertain them.

Finally, excellent job on getting that kid into a life jacket! Ours go on when we get out of the truck, and stay on until we get back to the truck.

Maybe there should have a father/son Floatilla where only the kids are allowed to fish?
