Quickly limited on pinks this morning fishing the stretch from Kayak Point to Tulalip. Lots of fish around, jumpers etc. On the way back I saw several schools cruising just a few feet under the surface.

This was my first time fishing this area. Easier launch (for a small boat anyway) and much less traffic & boat wakes than at Mukilteo.

Anyone know how Kayak Point is for shore anglers? How far out were you? Thanks.

Plenty of guys were fishing from the bank. I was not out far at all, just barely out of casting distance from shore. When I stopped to clean fish at the pier there were a few guys who had caught several. I think it would be a good spot to fish from shore.

I fished Kayak Point today. High tide was at 4:40. I fished from 3:00 to 5:30 and got skunked. I saw two fish caught out of about a dozen bank anglers, both on buzz bombs. One was hooked in the back and one in the mouth. For about the first 30 minutes there were fish jumping here and there, after that it was dead.
Anyone know what tide situation is best for beach fishing?

I was out at Kayak Saturday from about 8am to 2pm, and we had little action, except for a dogfish until we found ourselves in a school of pinks just north of Kayak. For 30 minutes we could not beat them off. We each landed one, as they were quite a lucky bunch, throwing hooks. I had a big male throw my jig while tailwalking!

We were trolling spoons, and tossing jigs and buzzbombs, and the jigs were the only way we could hook up.

For me, it was my first self-caught saltwater salmon! All others were mooching on charters, so the fishing grounds were not picked by me. I am quite proud of this little event, even if I was lucky.

What tides are best for beach fishing for humpies and silvers?

Cupo,

I think it depends on where the beach you are fishing is located, along with how the water runs, creating rips traping bait.

So far this year, the humpy bite in the salt has appeared to be random. But the hour or two after slack water always seems to produce at least a few fish. For coho, I like first light - you can't go wrong getting there early. Nothing like getting the first fish of the day!

I was out there and saw quite a few fish milling around on the surface. Anyone know anything about that? We had been trolling for several hours with no luck so we put one of those pink jigs on with no other weight and after an hour of trolling we caught one. Then we lost another one. Then it got dark.
