Went fishing for Pinks for the first time on Monday. My brother and I launched out of Mukilteo about 7:00 and went south.

Didn't know what to use so we just tied on two of the prepackaged "Humpy Specials" (white flasher and pink mini-hootchie) and set the downriggers at 30 and 40 feet.

Didn't start catching fish till about halfway down to possesion point in about 500 feet of water. We had turned around and were heading back north when we started noticing fish jumping and the fish finder had so much bait or fish that it was reading 2 or 3 feet for depth. Soon after we got our first double hookup.

Seemed like every time one guy would get a fish on and we stopped to bring it in, the other would get one on. Since we're new to salt water fishing it would get pretty hectic trying to keep them from tangling each other and the downriggers but we got plenty of practice.

We limited by 11:00 and lost as many as we caught so we were pretty busy the whole time.

Glad I took monday off to go fishing. Didn't have to wait launching or retrieving at the ramp and I'm sure there was a lot less people than on the weekend.

Great report Ben, glad to hear you had a good time. I think it is good advice to leave a rod down when you get a pink on, because chances are you are going to get a double if you do. you alomst make it sound like you were too busy catching fish! laugh

A lot less people?.. you can bet on that. I have never seen more boats on any fishery than last Saturday morning. It was thick! BTW Gutz and RatherB, my VHF handheld batteries went out and we couldnt find you. Sorry we could not get together for a beer!

I will be out tomorrow night to continue my fill the freezer summer!

Next time I suggest Mulilteo for a launch...PLEASE hit me in the back of the head with a 2x4!

Went out Sun. AM. LOTSA FEESHES. Started trying other setups, flashers ,leader length, speed. It didn't seem to matter.

Back at that damn launch at about 9:45...What a mess! Would have save time and nerves just making the trip up to 10th Street.

Lesson learned. Still had fun. Gotta go get another smoker.
