My buddy and I just got pontoon boats and want to drift a section of the Sky/Snohomish with lots of pinks. We planned to launch at Tualco Road, but can't find any takeout spot before Maple Street in Snohomish. That seem like a longer drift than we want to try. Do any of you know any plcae where we can drag our pontoon boats to a road before Snohomish? Thanks so much for your help. We are eager to attack all those pinks.

The closer takeout is Douglas bar, but you have to have purchased an access key to use it, and the farmer only sold a couple of hundred.

If your pontoon boats are light enough, you could launch at Tualco, fish down to upper Nordstrom's or the meat hole, and row/hike your way back. With the low flow it shouldn't be too difficult.

I see people under the 522 bridge fishing all the time but I don't know how difficult the walk down there is. Again, if your craft is light enough, you might be able to take out there.

Hell, you guys could take those pontoon boats out at Thomas eddy. There's a public parking lot there or you could park along the road.

If you're familiar with the old Snohomish Monroe highway, you make a turn at Treoste rd. about halfway between the two towns, then left onto Short School rd. That's how to get to Doug bar and Thomas eddy.

I hope this helped. smile

4 Salt : Thanks for the thoughtful answer! We tried getting to the area under the 522 bridge today, but the only trail we saw had a big no tresspassing sign on it. As for Thomas Eddy, we thought of that, but I didn't remembe any where to park and get our boat out. I thought I remembered a very steep rip rap bank and lots of anglers who might not preciate us messing up their fishing as we drag out the pontoon boats.

We will go take another look at the Thomas Eddy area tomorrow.

Thomas eddy is your only spot. Back in the 80`s I used to drag my drift boat up that rip-rap. Just pull in excuse yourself and haul your pontoons up the steep trough. Parking is much more limited now so get there early. Fred Zylstra is still selling launch passes for Douglas Bar. Much more conveinent. 200 yds down river. e-mail me if you need more info. Floating that stretch myself this weekend. Good Fishin`
