Report: Sounds like everyone is limiting everywhere but here's my humpy report anyway. Fished from Tulalip to Kayak Pt. Slow for us trolling in the early morning although the buzz bomb crew was killing them. It turned on hard for us around 10:00. I suppose the fish went deeper. We fished around 50 feet and double headers were the rule. We lost loads of fish, released some, and easily limited the boat. Anyone know if there are still kings around the mouth of Tulalip Bay?

Wasted Fish: When we returned to the Tulalip Reservation boat ramp and went to the fish cleaning station, it was distrubing to see a large drum half-full of pinks left to rot in the sun, covered in flies. About 20 fish or so. Not sure why these fish were left to waste, maybe they were cut for the eggs? Not like there's a shortage of pinks, but still...

Wastage of food fish is illegal for us white men. On the rezz it is standard operating proceedure. Eggs are worth alot more than the fish. Sovereign nation and all..you know.

Good report Sideoff. Yep, limits are easy right now, ...had mine at the hollow this morning in 1 hour. My thermos cup of coffee in the car was still warm when I pulled out and went home!

No Fish should be wasted like that. If they were smart they would find out who would eat them on the res and fillet them...give 'em away. Anything is better than letting them rot.

When I lived across from the beach at the Mukilteo University (Muck U) at the bottom of Church St. in the mid 80's I would watch the steelhead nets for some Tulalip Indian friends who fished there in exchange for a fish or two when they pulled out the fish. When they discovered that I preferred hens for the eggs instead of the better-eating bucks they laughed and offered me all the eggs I wanted for free. At that time they were just throwing the eggs off the dock when the commercial guys cleaned the fish they landed. Now they throw in the fish and keep the more valuable eggs. Isn't it amazing how things change with economics?
