Fished Neah on Fri/Sat/Sun. There are a lot of Silvers out there! We only caught two humpies over the three days.
We quit using the downriggers on Saturday morning and just jig fished...unbeleivable.
I"d say the only disappointment was not catching any Kings over 30.
There were lot's of whales breaching (sp?) too.
I'd say over three days we caught at least 200 Silvers, limits of Kings in the 20's,mackerel,rock cod,c&r halibut, etc. My arms are going to fall off! The other great part of Neah is it's empty. No waits at the launch and everyone is very spread out.
We fished both the staights and Swiftshure Bank. As far as the Coho go any lure worked and bait was not needed.

You lucky dog! You are making me drool, and quiver from that sort of report!

I love to hear those numbers, and need to make the run sometime.

Sounds like fun. What was the mark rate on the silvers, and any size to them?

Probably 3-1 nates v. hatchery and most were 4-6 pounds though we caught a few bigger than that.

Seastrike, are kings still open in Neah bay? Ive been hitting sekiu thinking the quotas for kings have been filled. I will be staying at olsons for a 4day weekend. I have a boat that would make the run easy enough. but should i trailer from sekiu since i will be fish a different area? any help from you or anyone would help
Thanks COHO

Coho,

I would rather spend the 30 minutes driving up to Neah Bay, trailering the boat, and burn 5 gallons of gas to get there and back. In a boat, if the wind picks up, you will beat yourself up and burn LOTS of gas.

It is about a 15 mile run, just to get to Neah Bay, from Sekiu. Then you have to run out around the corner of Tatoosh to keep kings, if they are still open. That adds another 6 miles for a total run of at least 42 miles round trip.

Seastrike, thanks for the report! I'm headed up there in a week and a half.

Andy

Have a great trip guys you will have a blast. I know kings are open in the ocean right now and close some time in September if I remember right. The only problem with staying in Neah is the lack of accomodations. We went into Seiku for dinner one night but we were too tired the other night.
Lings are still open there too. If you have a Canadian license you can fish Canadian Swiftsure for buts. Most of the really big kings we heard about were caught at Blue Dot.
