Ok I live in an apartment and trash gets taken out once a week. Fish carcass's get pretty damn smelly and the landlord may someday say something.

In the general rules it states: Is is unlawful for an angler to fail to retain proof of compliance with species, size, number weight, sex or wild or hatchery origoin restriction, if such restrictions apply, until the angler is ashore and has finished fishing for the day.

So if I am on the Puyallup fishing for Humpies. Minimum size is 12" and you can limit 2. Can I fillet them and throw the carcass's? I know you can clean. The reason I ask is any sex you can keep, no reason for wild or hatchery origion, and if the fillet is over 12" itself should be within limits. I am ashore and done fishing for the day.

Comments.

I havn't done more than clean a fish on the bank but was wondering if this is legal or stretching the rules?

MIm,sure you know this but here goes,(fish or shellfish may be cleaned or portioned while in the field with the following exceptions:It is unlawful for a angler to retain proof of compliance with species, size, number, weight, sex or wild or hatchery origin restriction,if such restrictions apply, until the angler is ashore and has finished fishing for the day.)This is from WDFW pamphlet. So i would clean the fish and on the way home stop at a gas station and toss the rest. rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes Might not be right but you have to live somewhere.

You could always give what you don't want to the Ngyun's family around the corner, they could make soup. smile

I think you're right...as long as you meet the minimum size with the fillet, which part of that are you breaking?

That being said, I wouldn't want to fillet my catch on the bank. I do it at home, freeze the carcasses, then try to remember to get them into the trash the night before pickup.

I have a small corner freezer in my apartment. I think the freezer thing would be a great solution. Thanks guys.

I didn't think I would be in the wrong doing this but like everyone says. Is It Worth The Hassle If you run into the wrong person?

I wouldn't throw the carcasses away until after you leave the water. Suppose the game warden showed up? How would you be able to prove those are really humpy fillets? Now imagine the game warden writing you a big fat ticket for keeping an undersized king/silver because you couldn't prove it was a humpy.

most humpies I have seen have distinct skin. But I think I will either freeze them or triple bag and dump them later that day after filleting them in a community dumpster somewhere.
