Fished from 6am to 9:30am (had a lot of honey-do's to get home for). The bait at Jeff Head was unreal. I've never seen so much boiling around me. My rods were shaking at several points. Which may be why the fishing was slow - too much bait! In any case, there was a solid 8am (tide change) bite and we nailed a great 11 pound hook nose silver. Plus lost another about the same size and lost a snaller one. All went after flasher/spoon set ups. Depth - the 11 pounder hit at 35 pulls on a deep six, the others at 45 ft on the rigger. A great mornign to be on the water!

BTW, to the boat that sacarstically commented on my three rods running - my two boys were hanging out in the cabin. Next time give someone the benefit of the doubt before you start pissing and moaning. rolleyes

Similar story here. We were up at Possession, fairly slow, considering. We came home with one, after shaking several off. Couldn't get them to stick today. LOTS of suspended dogfish, which we were getting on everything.

Mike, I was there too, and I was fishing with a kid who wasn't very visible. I saw the gamies checking everybody out with binoculars, then they kept looking at my boat for a long time. When they pulled a u-turn and started coming up beside me, I had my daughter sit up and wave. They still came and talked to me, made sure she wasn't a mannequin, asked if I had any fish they could look at, made sure I was using barbless hooks.

Compared to a week ago, fishing was s-l-o-w. Last week was probably six or eight silvers caught for our limits of four fish, plus two nice big kings c&r'd. Today was a few flounders, a few juvenile salmon, and two real bites. One nice ten pound greenback lost at the net (The hook came off the coho killer, and I noticed last week that the solder on the hook connector was broken beathead ) and one six pounder in the box. Now currently being digested by me, my family and a couple friends. beer

One was on a spatterback coho killer behind a spatterback metal piscator flasher, down 70 feet or so on the rigger, one was on a green/blue coho fly behind a small hotspot down 130 feet on the rigger in 130 feet of water.

It was a beautiful day to be on the water. The derby had things pretty crowded, but the water was flat, no wind, ... the only thing I would have changed is MORE FISH IN THE BOX!

Mike,

About the same for us. out of Kingston at 6 back at 9. Lost a nice silver first thing. But rather slow at apple tree so we headed to Jeff after the incredible all encompassing east-to-west light show. Got to Jeff and knew we were in trouble when we saw the bait. was that awesome or what? My buddy said he had never seen that much bait in his life. Gotta admit it's been a very very long time since I've seen anything close to that in the Sound. A real zoo with the birds, sea lions, blackfish and bait boiling. What a sight even the sound was like a torrential rainstorm. Anyway he tried buzz bombs and I switched to a herring jig and really loaded up. Looks like I'm set for bait for a while. laugh headed back and picked up a nice 8ld pink on the way in. Going on the smoker as we speak.

Have at 'er.

We launched at Yukilteo and fished the bait box at first light, then the east, then west side of Possession. Nothing.
Ended up going to PNP right during/after the tide change and picked up 4 coho and 2 pinks.
Largest was 7.5#. Almost had the boat swamped when we were sitting in a rip and a set of waves came in from that tanker and a small navy vessel that went by together on the outbound shipping lanes. By the time thier waves got to us, combined with the PNP tide rip, they were breaking 6 footers! Amazing that it got that bad on what was otherwise a very calm, beautiful morning.
