I know a lot of you golf, so here is a story for you.
I was entered in a blind draw golf scramble at the end of August. Got to an elevated tee box and an old guy swings at his ball, it rolls maybe 6 feet off the front of the box and rolls down a step hill. He looks down there and says " I can see it but thats to steep".. being a good guy I tell him " I'll get it for you, you might hurt yourself".. I climb down there and get the ball. On the way back up, I put a bunch of weight on my right leg and my ACL snapped in my knee. Sounded like a 30.06 going off. I rolled around like a gut shot ground hog.
So sept 3 its ACL reconstruction surgery. Got through that and things never really looked good. Massive swelling in my lower leg and calf. One night last week, my foot turns purple and my chest starts hurting. To the emergancy room. Turns out I have a couple of very large blood clots in my leg. They keep me at the hospital and start blood thinners. Later that night, one of the blood clots loses a piece and it winds up in my lung. This is called a pulminary embolisim.. It hurts like nothing I can describe.. and almost kills me.... I stay in the hospital for 5 days with countless tests and needles... needles... needles..
So now I am home.. have to give myself shots in the stomach, and go in every day for blood work to get this nasty Coumadin stuff adjusted. I got a look at the bill.. and with everything total its getting close to 40,000 dollars.
I kept that golf ball.. I think I'll have it bronzed...
Golf... very scary

Just goes to show you, no good deed goes unpunished. The question is, what did you shoot?

And I've been beeyotching because I thought *MY* ACL reconstruction went sour. Criminy, the knee is probably the least of your worries.
It's nice to see you can keep your sense of humor through all of this. Hope you heal well.

You may want to pretty much stick to the 19th hole from now on. Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks for the offer !!! however I have very good insurance. 1500 max out of pocket. Got it covered. However, looking at the bill, I can see how doctors make some major bank. I learned early on from years of riding/ racing dirt bikes that insurance is a must have item.

Hey b-run, Iknow exactly what you are going through, nov. 2001 had a pulmonary embolysm, i have been on coumadin ever since. I have had blood clots in both lower legs and the doctors do not, and can't figure out why. Those shots suck don't they. I only spent one night in the hospital because there was no injury that caused it. Well good luck, and if you have any questions about it let me know. I know what i can and cant do.
