Curious if anyone has had success in Costa Rica for fishing Tarpon? Those suckers leap out of the ocean like dolphins but no luck catching any beathead

Had a guest from Costa Rica stay with us for a week this summer up north ... he told many tales of tarpon fioshing at home so I think it's a safe bet to say there are some to be had smile

Fish out of Quepos (sp?) just north of Manuel Antonio Park. It's on the Atlantic side. They have billfish and Rooster fish as well as tuna and jacks.

Used to fly fish for them in Florida a lot. Getting strikes was never the problem. Getting the hook set in their bony mouths was the challenge.

We fished out of Tortuguero, the opposite side of Quepos (Pacific vs. Caribbean). Our guide didn't speak much english and no Tarpon were caught cry But I have to say it was an amazing sight seeing them jump from the water with their huge spikes and large mouth cool
