My Buddy and I fished hard all weekend for the Everett derby. Up at 4am both days, drank too much Friday and Saturday night beer , long days on the water, throw in some late night boat repair and all the cleanup afterwards. You get a fishing hangover.

Little cuts on your fingers, sore muscles, Racoon-face suntan from having the shades on all weekend, house/garage is a mess...I am sure some of you know the drill. All in the name of fishing.

Derby went fine, we boated 6 silvers saturday, releasing the first 4-5# hen as a donation to the gods. Largest was only 6-7#, so we filleted them all up Saturday night, KNOWING we would catch a bigger fish to weigh Sunday.

The Fish Gods answered.

Sunday we launched at Yukky-teo and fished the sunrise at Possession, then over to Scatchett Head for tide change. Didn't any other fish being caught amongst all the other boats, se we headed out into the lanes again to fish deep, even though only 8:00am and look who came-a-knocking!

A 14.66 buck that landed me 15th place. Not in the money, but a nice fish to enter.

Largest fish held out at 16.09 pounds. All in all a good derby, looks like everone had a great time. All the kids got tons of good pizes.

Thanks 3 Rivers guys, local shops, and F&H News for putting on a good show (until the PA system didnt work!)

thumbs Congratulations on the nice fish! Heard your name called( I was lost in the hordes of participants). Our team only managed a 7#r for the effort which we donated to the food bank.(900 plus fish entered and only 40 fish donated - kinda blew me away) Anyway - congrats to all! thumbs

You guys should have said hello!

There were a TON of nice coho weighed. We weighed in early on Sunday and hung out at the weigh station for 1/2 hour to watch the new entries come in, and I was impressed with what I saw.
Talk about a ton of nice fish!

This week and next are prime time people, get out there!

Hey Sky Guy - I grabbed your boat seat a couple of weeks ago. Didn't enter the Derby but got a nice 12 lbr and limited with 6 fish by 1pm by the yellow shipping lane can out in front of Elliott Bay. Good to hear you did well. Kinda hung from the Diamond Knot IPA mini keg on board that lasted into Sunday evening

Jeff-

My Fishing strategy for the derby was to get in the shipping lanes to have a shot at any fish coming south in Admiralty Inlet, so I fished between Edmonds and Kingston on Saturday cause we launched at Shilshole, and West of Scatchett head all Morning Sunday when we launched from Mukilteo. I shouldnt say all morning cause we did fish the bait box as the sun rose and Possession for a bit, but saw no fish and marked few....so we boogied outta there.

If you fish areas like Shipwreck, I feel you are limiting yourself only to resident fish or what Snohomish or Stilly system fish may be in the area. That didnt fit the game plan for last weekend.

Right on. I usually launch at Everett and don't make the extra trip to Possession if I don't have to, but good to know there are silvers off the bar like that.
