buckmaster,
I was the one who mentioned the commercials the other day (see pics below). But I have seen no sign of them since Tuesday with the exception of the one seine boat off Edmonds. I'm wondering now if this wasn't a "test fishery" exercise rather than the full meal-deal. But the goeduckers are sure swarming Apple Tree and working it hard up to PNP right now. Its unusual, as I recall, for silvers to be netted around these parts. Seems like they usually net them at the terminal areas but target the chum here much later in November so they can get them before they are overipe at their terminal areas. Maybe someone out there knows better?
In any event, I don't think we can blame the slower fishing on the nets. There are a lot of fish out there right now and it's typical at this time of year when the coho start getting more serious about making tracks for the rivers and they're not loitering too much anymore. The amount of bait out there right now doesn't made it any easier either. So when the fish really start to move like they are right now I key on the "fish gates" (PNP, Pilot, either Apple Tree point, and President) on the ebb and troll only with the tide on the flood. It sure can be frustrating though to know there are all these fish around you and not have them bite as they did earlier. But the good part of it is that even if they aren't getting easier to catch they are getting bigger, fatter and juicier. Quality or quantity, always seems to be the question doesn't it?
Maybe we'll see you out there.

These are tribal goeduckers working off Eglon. Most crafts are refitted gill netters. Alot more money in mollusks than salmon these days.
