What is the best tide to fish for Coho. I'll be going out of Everett Monday AM, high tide is at 7:20. Is it best on either side of high tide?

Noskunk,

I find that tide changes produce the best all around and most consistent bite in the Sound. But it's hard to make a flat statement about which tide change is best because it depends so much on where you are fishing. Certain spots are better known for their ebb change than their flow. Possession Bar is a great example of where a specific locations on the bar and tides are strongly corelated. As a general rule, terminal areas like Ebay & Cbay are good on the incoming high. Stronger tidal areas and tighter holding structures like PNP, Pt Def & Pt Monroe are reknown for their low change.
Personally, I prefer the easy going minor flood tides when I'm trolling and prospecting for silvers around here. But you won't hear me complain about a minor ebb either. Strong major tides are the most challenging and can be a royal pain, but there's just no telling sometimes with silvers. Bottom line: anytime can be good for silvers. Tide just determines where and how I fish for them. Key is to stay flexible and stay on them, when in doubt I follow the clean side of a good rip. Good luck on Monday. wink
