need some suggestions on vises for tying jigs for salmon and steelhead don't want to spend a fortune but i don't want to buy a piece of junk either any other suggestions welcome also thanks laugh

I would suggest a Thompson vise, the Model A or Pro vise will fit your needs just fine and they run $40-60.

They will hold a hook rock solid, unless you want to tie a whole ton of jigs, then you will want to get a better vise. Presonally, I would not go cheaper, as the quality may suffer.

Wooly Worm is right on. Can't go wrong with a Thompson A. Used one for 10 years before upgrading to a Regal. Might try eBay.

Yeah, you don't need expensive if you don't plan to tie alot. You can buy a thompson knockoff from Cabela's really cheap. I had mine for about 20 years before I bought my Griffin, then upgraded FAST to a Barracuda. LOL.

But email me if you want to get setup. I can set you up with a pretty good setup if you need it. Plus lead you into the right directions on vises depending on where you plan to go with them tyingwise. Plus, can show you to tie as well. No sweat at all. Where on the KP are you at? May be able to hookup, or have you over to learn to tie as well.

steelheader69 i will send you a e-mail i would like to see a few jigs tyed and ask a few questions mainly thinking ahead to winter and having something to do when I'm not steelhead fishing or working thanks again laugh
