Well the kings went through a few weeks ago, accompanied by some sockeye. Today I took a walk during my lunch hour to a good observation point and couldnt beleive the amount of fish I saw shooting upriver. The rain really got alot of fish moving in this little creek.

Fresh silvers just flying upstream, still bright, zipping through all the sockeye redds. 3 types of salmon all in the same part of the stream at different points in their spawning routine.I am bringing my digital camera in to work tomorrow So I can take some shots to share with you all, it is reall cool to watch.

The stream is closed to fishing thankfully. If any of you have kids, and you want to show them spawning salmon in a nice quiet place, let me know and I will give you directions. It is a really cool sight, as you will see when the pictures get posted. The males are brawling for the best holes. It's cool!

Anyone have a site where I could post a short Mpeg of the fish? I could FTP the file over to you so everyone here could see this.

Will do once it is complete, thanks Parker.

I just walked out there again and ran into the City of Bothell Hydrogeologist, cool guy. He says there are of ton of fish in the system right now, about 200 per 1000 yards I think he said. Sockeye, Silvers, and Kings everywhere!

I took about 30 pictures this afternoon between rain showers, hopefully some will come out. The light was bright on the water and blew a few good fish shots.

I will Edit/Post them later tonight.

Well a few came out OK. Didnt get any shots of the silvers that were zipping by yesterday, and no Kings in spots where I could shoot them. So here are a few shots of some fire engine red Sockeye That have been holding the same water all week. Most of them are about done. From one of the walkway bridges over this creek, you can look straight down on mating pairs burrowing out spots in the gravel.
These fish can easily be viewed by children without getting wet and dirty, on the North Creek in Bothell. I'll be bringing my 3yo daughter down to see them in the next week. PM me for directions. Enjoy!

Thouse Sockeye are some beautiful fish. Thanks for posting!

BTW: Dose that creek flow into Lake Washington or the Slough?

It flows into the slough. If I get a chance to shoot any of the silvers today or tomorrow I will.

Wondered which creek it was. I fished Swamp Creek years ago, but never North Creek.

Always wanted to duck hunt the field that North Creek ran through. Used to hold about 5K mallards most winters. I'd spot them as I'd drive to school.

I used to lead trips for nature watchers to see fish in the wild. I have always thought that it was important for the public to understand fish survival issues in the field.

Possibly the best place to see sockeye spawing is on the Cedar River. It gets a big run from now until about mid-November.

My favorite place is up near Landsberg dam. Take the Cedar River trail from the parking lot down stream to the RR bridge. From that vantage, and upstream along the sand bluff is a great spot to see spawning sockeye in the Seattle area.

Also King County sets up fish watching stations along Bear Creek for the public.

My wife always asks to be taken out on those trips, because although she doesn't take to fishing, she loves to go salmon watching.
