I'm planning on taking a friend to the Chehalis tomorrow morning. Does anyone know how the river is looking and if the Coho are cooperating in the Montesano area? help

Thanks.

It's come up a bit, but I don't think it's gone out. I might go myself; haven't been since last week. The coho are there, but whether they're cooperating varies from day to day, hour to hour. It's not that far away for you. I'd give it a go.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

GOOD GOD, A LURKER COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET!!! Hey Trent, it is about time you actually use the keyboard on that thing! I'll call you later to find out how you guys did, hopefully better than a lousy red sockeye!

Just returned after spending an hour above Monte. The river is not out but it is high. Not much tide swing for the next few days and visibility today was mabey 8-10". No fish caught, no fish saw caught. Not many showing. Checked the Satsop and it is way off colored because of the Turnow branch dumping mud. Should come in by Tuesday.

Hey Steve!
Yes, I finally became more than a forum reader. I didn't find any current info on the Chehalis and was wondering what all the rain was doing to the fishing, so I became a registered member, even though I didn't have any ideas for a good user name or a cool picture to use with it. I gotta figure out how to create UBB Code stuff. Any way, we just got back from the Chehalis. It was beautiful weather, but we didn't see a single fish caught. We saw Neal down there and he said he caught 3 Coho and 2 Kings yesterday in the wind and rain. But apparently the majority of the fish have gone up the "Nooch" and the Satsop with not many coming up to replace them. So we had a pleasant boat ride...

I heard that the hatchery got a ton of fish all at once. Hope it lasts a little longer.

When you factor in 2 days of netting around the 101 bridge (10-9 and 10-10) you can really see a fall off in production upriver!! So hopefully in another day the river can start receiving new fish from the salt.

Yeah. I heard the netters had two very successful days last week which appears to have left a pretty good hole in the run, but hopefully there will be more fish coming in. I'd sure love to have one of these pleasant boat rides rudely interupted by fish fighting pandemonium.

I heard from a reliable source that on boat got 8500 lbs of silvers on the opener.
