This is NOT an attempt to begin another long argument that will never changes any minds. I just wanted to give you the site address where you can give Representatinve Inslee your opinion on the war, funding, troops etc. Here it is.

If he's not listening to his constituent's wishes, I'm guessing he probably won't be re-elected. At least, that's how I ~hope~ it works. laugh

Then again, maybe he IS listing to his constituents. Could it be that you finger's somewhere other than on the Pulse of the Voters. beathead

All good points MC..we all have a right to an opinion even though on PP it may result in a severe flaming. Stick to what you believe in. I think population explosion from whatever source is one of the root causes of the decline of our environment and our fish.

MasterCaster - Good points, I had not thought that much on the Cuban immigrant situation. Florida seems so far away!! Thanks for the input.

i am a supporter of Pres. bush and all that he has done for the Iraqi people in helping them achive freedom. I do not veiw what he is doing with cuba as creating trouble, but as helping the cuban people achive their freedom.

Cuba has the ablitiy to become a thirving ecomony based just on its tourism alone. Castrio and his people have been holding the cuban people in bondage for far to long. Just becouse no other President has had the balls to do somthing in the past to correct this problem does not mean it should not be done.

As far as the flow of immigration goes. We are all here becouse of immigration from other parts of the world. the u.s.a. has always welcomed people from the poorest countries at their time of need. Ireland during the potato famine, germans after the first world war, jews when the comminist were killing millions in the u.s.s.r. I am not for illegals flooding in to this country unchecked but to help people held by a brutal goverment is ok by me.

As far as " I think population explosion from whatever source is one of the root causes of the decline of our environment and our fish."
Thats what the tribes said when my Irish and german grandfathers got off the boat and took indain brides. the decline is do to bad "science' by envro's and a unwillingness to enforce the law both in our woods and on our boarders. what

Tom...gutsy move to support Bush on this bastion of liberalism BB...My comment on population doesn't focus on immigration but the fact that we have so many people using our dwindling resources. Look at Alaska where the population is low..nice place to fish.

We had a great meeting. We discussed river fishing and also saw a preview of the TR-1 remote control set to come out in January. Very cool. Big crowd as usual and everyone learned something. Sorry you missed it.

MC - You may want to check your history books. The German and Irish immigrants had very insular and vigorous communities throughout the US when they came here. Flags, language, food, customs - all were practiced here very much as they were in their homelands. It generally took a generation or two prior to the immigrants identifying more with the new home as opposed to their old one.

If we really cared about the cuban people we would end this charade. The embargo's time has come and gone. Really, how much longer do you think it will be before Castro dies and if we have our foot in the door we can have a positive influence on the change. Nothing we do affects Castro he still has all his luxuries and his people live in poverty. Forty years this has been going on granted Castro hasn't given in but we were the ones who 'took our ball and went home'. I just think its pointless, besides I can't get cuban cigars or rum, over something that happened 40 years ago. It would be different if it was working but obviously it is not.

To get back on track....

Here's an example of why I have such a problem with the amount of money and the people who's pockets are getting lined:

Quote:
...Halliburton's KBR subsidiary is billing the Army between $1.62 and $1.70 per gallon, while the average price for Middle East gasoline is 71 cents.

They also complained that Iraqis are charged between 4 cents and 15 cents at the pump for the imported gasoline.

"Although Iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the world, the U.S. taxpayer is, in effect, subsidizing over 90 percent of the cost of gasoline sold in Iraq," the lawmakers said ...
Taking advantage of the US Army and citizens for the sake of profit during a time of war is treasonous in my opinion.

No history lesson needed here Eddie..... I am not referring in any way that immigrants do not and should not retain their heretage. My family has been able to do it for the last 3 decades. But we do not need to prance around all year long in lederhosen to retain that pride in our heretage....... I was actually called a communist when I was in kindergarten by THE TEACHER because I spoke german. Today the ATM asks me if I want instructions in english or spanish and all I can think of is... Duh?
But, do not want this to take on a racial hue so I will leave it at that, just explaining my thoughts probably a lot more than I should.....

Wrong. When the likes of Halliburton rapes the American taxpayer for profit, during a time of crisis and war, then they are stealing from the hand that feeds me (allows me to have a job.)

Oh PLEEEEEEEEEEEEZE...That anti-business plank in your platform is about to break. Should we Nationalize industry and distribute the wealth to the Proletariate? The old Robin Hood deal? Those dirty bazturd corporations! We need to take over their companies and give the jobs to all of the poor people. rolleyes

I'm not anti-business. Never made any claim to be that I can see. Your typical spin on things is absolutely predictable.

Being the staunch conservative that you are, I don't understand why it doesn't bother you that President Rove is taking your tax dollars and allowing a company like Halliburton to gouge it out of the Army while they are at war.

Doesn't that smack of treason?

In my opinion, companies like Halliburton, et al, should abstain from profiteering from the government during war. It's their civic duty to serve the nation for its cause. They can continue their capital growth during times of peace.

How can a true patriot allow the nation's defense forces to be taken advantage of?

What's really under that flag your wearing?

especially since halliburton didn't have to compete for the job...aren't they already charging 200 million over the 700 million they were originally alotted?
