I recently got a wild hair to buy a Shimano Bantam 100 reel on EBay. So I end up bidding on about 8 of them and wound up buying three before I stopped myself. I have received 2 of them and one is in good shape with the rosewood handles. The other is pretty rough with the plastic handles. I know Jacob F has one of these because it was when I saw his at a PSA meeting in Renton that I got interested. How about some feedback on these reels and if you know whether parts are available . I wanted to restore one of them to near new condition if possible. I don't know why.

You may want to ship it off to Ollie Damon's in Portland. They have lot's of older reel parts and at the least, will lube it and clean it nice and shiny.

GP, I have two Bantam 1000s that I'd never part with. Good capacity, decent retrieve ratio and most importantly a direct drifve switch. My only complaint is that the washers go bad quickly if you use them for casting. So now I use them only for salmon in saltwater, which they're best suited for. Wish they still made them. I'd buy two more -- any on Ebay?

The Bantam 1000 is a large capacity salmon reel isn't it? The Bantam 100 is super small. I have a Bantam 50 which I use for salmon. The 100 is silver and small
