Well we got Dad out again yesterday, even with the bad weather forecast and the “Flood Watches”.

My Dad is really starting to think the my buddy and I are real liars, we have told him the last two trips that he needs to bring his rain gear and warm cloths… and wouldn't you know it the good lord has blessed us with nice weather on both his trips… yesterday was just down right hot.

Went down to the Cowlitz… there were a lot of displaced fishermen, there favorites had been blown out and they still wanted to fish…

Well we got into some nice fish and brought a few home. We had a number of fast water silver releases and released several nice cutt's, also busted two steelies loose cause I couldn't get down river fast enough and with the higher water I want good footing…!

But Dad ended up with an 8 and a 5 and I ended up with a 10 and a 5… and a beautiful day out!

I hope Dad just keeps believing us about the rain gear because on one of his trips in has to rain… umbrella

Nice Fish! Curious where you are fishing the Cow at. I have a place up at the Cow Timber Trails Assoc. and usually sideplane at the boat launch there, it's just below Barrier Dam. Any silver reoprts in that area??

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

That is great to see you got your dad into some fish. I wish I could get my dad out with me sometime, that is a great way to spend the day. Showing the man who showed you how to fish a thing or two.

RICK 68,

I am just down stream from you at Forest Bend.

The boat launch the side plane should do the trick. These fish will really start to stack at the dam. That is were I would go.

The pics of your dad's fish really look great thumbs But the other pic's certainly appear to show "gill net marks" around both of the heads of those two fish. Did you also notice that, or are they marks from some other source?

Either way, it's really neat to get your dad on the water with his son to catch fish! thumbs

Cowlitzfisherman... Thanks for the idea and now that you suggest the "gill net marks" it makes since... My buddy was gone getting the shuttle car so no pictures of his fish but, he also had 1 fish that had the same markings...

We talked a bunch about those marks and couldn't come up with any real plausible idea's... beathead

So again thanks... I will have to try and keep track of how many I get like that...

Thanks for the input!!! Tight Lines beer

CM, a third of the coho I encountered this weekend had gill net marks on them. A few were good-sized wild teenagers w/multiple wrap marks around the gills.
