Was fishing for silvers today when I had a train hit my corkie. I knew something was different about it and low and behold an estimated 12lbs steelhead on the other end. Hatchery with bright rosy gillplates.

It was a magical and delightful moment. I was so awestruck by even getting one. Seems not everyone has caught a steelhead and especially when your not even trying.

Lesson learned: No matter how bad your prior fishing days have been take a camera. I left my digital in the truck.

Released the fish.

That's awesome. I think we all of remember our first steelhead. Hearing of yours reminded me of mine - many years ago but the memory is as fresh toady as then.

I too got my first one this year and it is an awsome feeling. I can't wait to start hitting them this winter. I tried for a long time for it finally paid off. I still smile when I think about that fish. Congradulations and good luck on your next one.
