Welcome aboard!

Not from Idaho but I think some are.

Never fished the Kenai, but fished out of Dillingham( Bristol Bay) Seward, Ketchican,Petersburg, Wrangell and had a great time everywhere, I'm sure you did too.
Alaska is a great place.

Welcome, lived in Idaho for 12 years, really liked having 4 seasons. Lived in Horseshoe Bend and Caldwell and spent many a fine day fishing the North Fork of the Payette and the main Payette below the forks.

Well, I am from the Seattle area but moved to Boise 2 years ago.... Beautiful state, but does not compare with Puget Sound......

Jerry!!! Wow, Horseshoe bend eh? I have Kayaked the Payette many many times and love that area.... Partied a couple times at HSB with the Idaho Rivers group (picnic/fundraiser).....

I won't bore you with any tales of my partying days in Horseshoe Bend. I would fish the North Fork Payette just upstream of the forks, fishing the pocket water, sometimes cnr-ing 20 trout a day while trucks towing their boats were going by on the highway on their way to Cascade Res. in search of fish.

Ah, then you know all about Henry's Lake!

My wifes kin reside in Rexburg, so when we go to visit I always like to hit the snake or Henry's for the BIG trout/Cutthroat/hybrids.......

Where in SE Idaho bud?

North fork huh. Seems like the hot weather has a thermal block on the fish. Have not seen a big wave come through yet. We are fishing Lenore to Cherry lane on the Clearwater this week. Ready for some larger fish. We need some rain or at least to cool off a bit. Water temp on the Salmon was 54 at Whitebird last weekend. No wonder there are fish at North fork. They are getting poached like an egg in the lower river.

Pocatello---dont laugh. Its a real place! Its central to a lot of GOOD fishin. Until the steelhead bug bit,, I spent a lot of time fishing Yellowstone backcountry---Bechler, Grand Canyon, Shoshone Channel, Etc. Three steps off the road and youre alone. Now a three hour drive to Salmon for steelies and six to Riggins for steelies and Chinook. Spent a week last summer in Port Angeles --Would love to fish the Hoh, Sol Duc when the timing was right---Beautiful rivers!

Not so much the flow as the temp. Idaho always has some flow, but B-run steelies would much rather swim in 52-48 degree water than 54-56 degree water.

Henrys lake... Grew up fishing there. Island park in a float tube... Poca-fello is an awsume place to live if you like to float tube for trout. I sort of wish I would have never caught that first 12 lb steelhead on a fly rod... It sort of ruined the Henrys lake thing for me. Steelhead are a float tubers wet dream !!

As an Idaho guy you need to be involved with the system. ISSU is something you need to get behind. You live in the head waters friend.. Lets take care of it.

Wild sex for wild fish !!!

Been involved with ISSU in the past couple years..... Nice folks with a good cause and not just a bunch of radical leftys.......
I really enjoy the Payette and it is a good example of proper management... Other areas in Idaho need some work. The Malad river is a joke. Either it is flushing cow manure or sucked dry for irrigation. Nice Brown trout in there but getting worse....

I moved from Idaho just as kayakers were really noticing the north fork Payette, and rafters were taking over the main Payette from Banks down stream. I spent many fine summer and fall days fishing hoppers, stoneflies and a fly called a grey hackle peacock(grey hackle, peacock body, red tail). I sure miss the indian summer on the Payette, frosty mornings and 70 degree afternoons. laugh

Still not too many Kayakers in the N. Fork above Horseshoe Bend.... Lots of little pools with beautiful trout in them.... Ahhhhh, those days you mention are what we have going on right now....... Cold mornings and 75 deg afternoons......
Gotta get over there again before it gets really cold.
What made ya move Jerry?
