anyone ever use a Ambassadeur EON 3600 Pro

just curious what these unconventional looking reels are like...apart from expensive...they better than high end shimanos??

"Finest in Abu Garcia design and materials for superior preformance Cast, control and retrieve your lure in a way that you've never experienced. Planetary gears deliver strong, smooth retrieves, and the in-line brake system makes adjustment easy. Features the unique Abu Garcia InfiniSpool system for the ultimate in casting control and distance. To ensure virtually frictionless rotation, each precision bearing meets tolerances of .0002 inch."

around $250-300

Get a Calcutta TE and feel the big difference.
I was going to get one of these EONs when they first introduced them.
Lucky for me, SportsCo had a big back order.
I am a Conquest man now; strong, smooth, and looks good too.

I saw the cheaper model 3600, 5600, etc. for 39.95 at GIJoes in Issaquah the other day. They had a lot of them.

I picked up one of the cheaper EON 5600s from GIJoes a few months back. While the rubberized exterior makes the reel feel somewhat cheap (at least compared to the metal of my Shimano), it hasn't performed poorly. The jury is still out for me...

Iv'e gone through 2 5600's and would not give 1 to my worst enemy. Absolute junk I have never seen a reel fail with such a quickness. If you have purchased one I would dump it of quick or just write it off as a loss. Sorry to be so negitive but I would copare this reel to the shimano corsair.

Pluses: Ultrasmooth casting for good distance; smooth drag

Minuses: Misc plastic outer parts fall off; drag not easy to adjust; bushings in handle ends can slip out

I'm running with the 3600 fishing for chinook and coho's on the river from shore and hadn't burned the drag out yet, and for the price, couldn't go wrong, so I picked up another for back up, but, didn't need it yet. Biggest fish so far on that reel has been a fiesty 24#.
