Does anyone have a manual for a Cannon Mag 10 electric downrigger?

I bought 2 used Mag 10's and have no manual. Each DR has two switches on it. One is your basic up/down switch and the other is unlabled. It's a simple push button and I suspect it's used for setting the up stop or something similar. They also have "positive ion control" but I don't think it's adjustable, unless the unknown button is related.

Can anyone enlighten me or possibly photocopy and mail me the manual. I'd be happy to pay for the cost.

Thanks!

Braz

I have a Mag 10.

One switch is the up/down switch and the other(the white push-in button) is the breaker fuse. Normally you don't have to do anything with the the breaker fuse. If for some reason the automatic stop does not work and the ball slams into the pulley on the end of the boom, the breaker with trip before the motor burns out. When that happens, wait a minute and reset the switch and the downrigger will work again.

The positive ion control puts a +0.5v on the downrigger wire. One thing to remember with this design is that if you put a black box on this downrigger, the auto-stop feature won't work.

So basically the auto-stop feature is something that the unit senses as the ball gets to the top of the water? I.E. - Just hit the up switch once and walk away, and it will stop when it reaches the top?

Thanks!

Right, the auto-stop feature works in conjunction with the positive ion control. When the ball comes out of the water, the charge is broken and the downrigger stops. If you want the ball to stop before it comes out of the water(good thing so the ball doesn't swing around when you are in waves) just add a nonconductive snubber between the ball and the wire.
