went to the vedder, Didn't have heavy enough line lost 4 fish that were all over 40 pounds one closer to 50, once the big fish got about half tired the would just turn and go with the current and there wasn't enough bank to chase them, so bye bye fish, one messed up thing was fishing and all of a sudden theirs yelling from up stream "guy in the water" he went by us face down and not fighting so it wasn't looking so good, tried to snag him but missed, thought about going in but decided it would just add bodies to the water...made me a little shook up...Ive seen bodies before but a fellow fishermen reminded me this could happed to my friends or me....DJ

For any body from BC did you here on the news if the revived the guy, A guy on a bike told me that they got him out just past the wooden bridge

This is from the BC Adventure Board:

We all need to remember to be safe out there. No fish is worth our life.

Live on Peach and was at the river an hour or so after the drowning. The cops were still
gathering info at the time. Apparently the man was fishing on the riprap on the north side of the Vedder barely 100 yards downstream from the Peach Road parking lot (the same spot where 100's of people have been lining up to fish all season). A couple of guys who had been fishing near the man weren't sure how or why he fell in...but said that his neoprenes were "so bouyant" that he couldn't seem to get his head out of the water as he was pushed downstream. The water is still quite high, fast and dirty. When they got his body out below Lickman he was dead. These guys thought he was older than the radio news which reported him as being "in his 40's from Abbotsford".
Very sad and kinda surreal day as folks continued to clamber all over the rocks trying to net these monster springs as the police were collecting evidence re the death.
Couldn't shake the thought all night that someone's dad/husband/son went fishing today and never came home.

Make sure you enjoy everyday of your life. You never know when you number will be called. This kind of thing really puts life in perspective. Suddenly my problems seem pretty small. God bless the family and I hope it wasn't painful for him. Brass

A friend of mine talked to his daughter Sunday frown

Last year we didn't lose anyone on the Vedder, but the previous 2 years we did.

REMEMBER****** neoprene waders work great in "CALM WATER",
but if your fishing any type of current you NEED upper body floatation to keep your head up! thumbs

An "H" harness inflatable is alot cheaper that a funeral, so get one and back come home safe! wink
