I'm thinking about purchasing a pontoon boat for some peaceful floating down the rivers. The Sky, the Sauk, Satsop, and Cowlitz come to mind ( I know, what's peaeful about the Cowlitz!). Anyway, I'm focusing on 2 person pontoons. So any advice you pontoon owners have would be most appreciated. I'd like something I can tear down easily as I don't want yet another trailer to deal with. It needs to be safe of course, stable and easy to row. I did look at one on the net from Creek Company which I can get ordered from GI Joes. Here is a link to their 2 man boat:

Thanks for your help!

You might want to take a look at this one too. Dave Scadden does the show circuit, so you could probably see one there if you wait that long. smile

That's a great looking boat. I'll have to call some of the dealers and get prices. I'll bet it's not $1,000 though...

Mike,
A good buddy of mine just got a 14 Aire, problem he found all too quickly was that anchoring a raft is not like a drift boat. his raft started to weave back and forth in the current and the tubes became submerged in the rear, not good.. eek
just something to consider before you buy, are you going to be anchoring in current, if so , then make sure to test drive before you buy, you might be un-impressed, I will stand by the drift boat anyday... beer
I find the river fishes better from the middle to the bank, thus anchoring in current is a must...need I say more?

Yes, I've had someone mention the anchoring weaving effect that can occur. That would be a concern. eek

Also, I checked prices on the high end which is the Steeheader 2 at $2995 (not including oars) vrs the low end priced Creek model (above) at $999. So my next question - is there something inbetween? A happy medium between the cheap and the expensive that still has quality?

The Dave Scadden should be in between. The 9 ft version retails for about 800.

Here you go!

I was in the same boat as you, I've decided to get a Drift Boat instead, more durable and lasts 5 times longer, something I'd like to hand down to my grand children. Still thinking of either a Clack or Hyde.
Good luck!
Also take a look at Xstream Catarafts and most definately the Steelheader II.
