Since it is that time of year I thought I'd start
a fish picture thread. Lets see some photos!

I dont normally target chums but I did manage
a couple while fishing for silvers this year. I
don't care much to eat 'em, but they sure are
fun to play with.

this first one was taken a month ago. (just got
the film back from costco or I would have
posted it sooner) pretty bright fish... nasty
canines though. (notice that there are no
other boats on the water... We did not see
another boat the entire day umbrella

Both fish were CnR'd...

Cool Piper...... Nice fish! thumbs
I have never caught a Chum although I grew up in the PS area..... You say you don't eat them.... Are they nasty? Many people say that about Pinks but I kinda like their delicate flavor (Bright Salt fish) and they smoke up great.
You seem to really know fishing.. Just curious, what do you do for a living up there?

chums that are that bright are even good for the bbq. once they turn that deep green shade with purple bars, they are only good for the smoker, though. don't even think about keeping them if they have those fungus spots...nasty!

I'd think twice about releasing thouse chum. But them again if there are silvers to be had then back they go! Still I release all Chum I get because I prefer coho or chinook.

i just got back from fishermans terminal and saw that the fish markets are selling chum labeled as "keta salmon" I hope that this new branding of the fish does not lead to more commercial takes on this fish. the egg take season seems to be hard enough on them without trying to make a new market as table fare under a new name.... @#$%&# commercial fisherman!

Here's a pic of my dad with a 25+ pound Frazier River chum. Took him over 40 minutes to land this from the bank. It doesn't look as big in the picture because it is curving inward. We didn't take any measurements of it but it was agreed by all who saw it (we were on a club outing) that it was at least 25 pounds.

And here I am with my biggest chum. I caught it fishing the Sky with Bossman. Estimated its weight at 17. Keep in mind I'm 6'6" and weigh 310 myself. (I always have to say that when I post fish pictures of myself smile )

6'6" and 310lbs! Yea it's a good thing you metioned that! You're a load and would make a large fish look small. Being 5'6" and 165, does just the opposite for me.

Nice fish Jacob thumbs Those are both brutes! that one your dad is holding has got an enourmous tail section. His fingers are wrapped around that pig and aren't touching eek

As far as table fare is concerned, If I was hard up for fish I would probably keep chums. Usually by the time the chums roll around I have a freezer full of vac packed silvers. That will keep me in fish for most of the year.

Keep the pics coming. Of all the salmonoids chums are by far the meanest looking of the bunch. I love those nasty ole canines they get.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Hey Piper,

You look older in the photos than in your Avatar.

Nice chums in a beautiful almost pristine setting!

I believe I was on the shore watching the day you got the second fish.I know you were there that day.I was talking to another man with a couple of labs wink

Unfortunately the crowds had gotten to thick to play on the stream though.Favorite cutty stream though.
