Is there any way to guarantee that your chum eggs will still be in the skein when you clean them? Today I took home a couple chrome hens. There stomachs felt firm and the bellys weren't overly distended. I was sure they would have good skein but alas I just have fish to smoke instead of fish and primo eggs. Any thoughts or suggestions???

Yeah, just make sure they're ultra-bright... Also, some strains of fish on the OP and eastside come in a bit more immature than others... Just find em'...

i've caught some darker hens that have better eggs than the chromers every now and then...i seem to be able to find the good eggs by feeling their belly a little bit before i decide whether to bonk em or toss em back

Get your chums from Mud Bay, Satsop or lower Nisqually. About 6-7 years ago the Chums we caught at Hoodsport had tight skeins. For some reason you can get a Chrome Bright hen and the eggs will be loose.

Went to the Kalama saturday. Fished the Painted rock area. River was VERY low and clear and we didnt roll a fish. Only saw skanks.
