Good Morning Gents –
Well, you know the drill “best laid plans….” We did not get out due to the snow/ice conditions here in North Kitsap County. I did not think it was a good idea to tow the boat with the road conditions the way they were.
Sooooooo we had a long talk/visit and my bud said he really wanted to take a few fish home to smoke up (his wife likes smoked salmon during the holidays) when he returned home. So, I mentioned the Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery as a possible place to pick up a few if they were in good shape. We got in the truck and went to the hatchery were they were giving away all the salmon you wanted. We picked out twelve of the best looking fish and returned to my place. We then set up two fillet stations and proceeded to fillet out the fish. One of the twelve was a silver. Man it was cold outside with the wind, water air temp being what they were. Anyway we completed the task at hand and he is returning home today with some fish for the smoker. As a side note, a few of the fish were still moving when we put them in the bag.
We would have preferred to catch the fish, but our window of opportunity was very small. My bud went home with twenty four fillets and a smile on his face. Not the best, but he has a few fish. I told him I was very interested in how well the fish smoke up. He said he would be sure to let me know.
Thanks for your help and input in this effort.
