Does anyone know how to make lights for floats for night fishing? I have seen a few people who use a light like the smallest Christmas tree light attached to a float so they can see the float in the dark. I've heard these are handmade and cannot be purchased. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've seen a fairly large float at GI Joe's that had a small Cylume light stick attached to it. Also Cabela's has some battery lighted floats in their catalog.

Use a cork bobber with a small light stick as a bobber stop in the cork

Thill makes a plastic float with replacable LED battery/light assemblies in the top. Very bright and replacement lights are readily available.

You can also put a small light stick on top of your own floats. Clear water resistant athletic tape works to secure it for a few hours. Silly string (the elastic stuff for herring wrapping a kwikfish) also works but is a pain to use.

Am working on a design for a GOOD LED powered float. Will post when the final prototype is completed smile

Battery operated ones are great for visability but, when they are extremely bright it is tough to distiguish when the thing goes under. Many a nights spent re-baiting thinking I wasn't getting any action. My .02

Those who fish "bobbers" are always in the dark. Those who fish "floats” see the light.
