There will be a presentation on the Elwha dam removal plan from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, at the REI flagship store in Seattle. Admission is free.

The presentation will feature Brian Winter, who has been the Elwha project manager for the Olympic National Park since 1993. Winter has a PhD in fisheries from the U.W. He will discuss the history of the dam-removal project, its current planning status, and future restoration of the river, ecosystem and fishery in the Elwha watershed. Removal of the dams is currently scheduled in 2007. The program is sponsored by the Northwest Women Flyfishers.

He does a nice job with the presentation. I have seen him talk about it twice, and I learned something different each time.

I'd go just for the chance of meeting a lady flyfisher...

I was unable to make this dammit!
