Hopefully you got out and caught a few fisheys before the rains hit too hard. Looks like it may be touch and go this week ... umbrella

All saddled up to ride the brat brigade Tuesday and Wednesday. Sounds like wet, windy and miserable weather up there. smile Just the way us steelheadbangers like it, if..................
the rivers will only stay in shape.
You guys up there know the drill. How's it look? what
Am I going to be just taking up booth space at the Forks Cafe for two days?
Anyone else nuts enough to go, shoot me a note if you want to work out a turnaround.
Thanks in advance for your last minute report.
smile

Don't bother with the Bogy. I fished there yesterday and there was only a foot and half feet of vis. and the rain was just starting to pound down. The Sol Duc was on the rise and was picking up quite a bit of color.

PS-I'll give you a report reynees_06 tomorrow if you're there. Must have caught the flu that is going around.

So with the weather report, does it look like the OP rivers will be a bust this coming weekend?

Harley,

The deluge that began last night sure dampened my spirits. I was gased up, loaded and ready to go; now with nowhere to fish. After the holiday dinner, I guess I'm gonna' do some chores and spend the rest of the weekend tying some flies and jigs in hopes the rivers drop, the winter runs show up, and I can get a few days off - all at the same time.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Salmo-

Are you saying that Bogey, Calawah and Sol Duc are blown out? The flows don't look too bad on the USGS site-- maybe a bit high, but they seem like they would be fishable tomorrow without a bunch of rain tonight.

Thanks for any input.

Dunno. Wasn't that far north. Late Sunday afternoon the water was rising and becoming more colored, then dropping yesterday, then rained like heck last night, pushing certain water above my preferred height. Now it stops raining again. Are the weather gods playing with my mind? Could have a shot tomorrow morning closer to home. Just depends how much it rains between now and then.

The internet is either saving me a lot of wasted gas and miles on my car, or I'm missing a lot of fishing opportunity. Uncertainty happens.

Good luck if you go.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Help!

Does anyone have a river report from the Quilayeute system from today? Are they fishable?

This could be my one steelhead trip for the year (our 2 year old is not quite up for steelheading yet). I'd hate to go out there and have it be marginal...

Thanks for any help here.

Nothing's pretty at all ... Calawah is starting to drop some, but will likely have no more than 18-24" tomorrow. Bogey was ugly today, but should start to clear some, but will probably be slow to do so with shower activity. 'Duc was 1/2 green and half brown this evening, imagine it will be close to the same in the morning.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the information that you and others provide.

Someday we'll be able to do the big guided float trip with you during late salmon/early steelhead season. It sounds like a lot of fun. What's the youngest age of kids that you've had in your boat that seem to enjoy the float?

You know, it really varies form one kid to the next.

Some 5-6 year-olds do very well, others don't smile Same can be said for kids 10-11.

I think it's more of a judgement call for the parent .. if the kids have done some fishing and have a 'little' patience ... they'll usually do okay.

A lot of times with the kids I try to do sections with some bouncy water .. inbetween holes that always perks them up and they forget about maybe not having a bite in the last hole smile

Happy Thanksgiving mates!

I'll I can say is: I'm certainly thankful I didn't didn't stay home after all the reports I heard. smile
Actually it wasn't like I had a choice. The wife says go and don't come back without fish, you go right? Everyone else sure bailed though. cry
Oh well, we muddled through somehow. laugh
Rivers were out Tuesday but dropped in on Wednesday. Had a good day on Wednesday, so I stuck around to fish Thursday morning too. Water was improving nicely when I left, so if the rains hold off it should be good over the weekend.
I was surprised at how few people there were on Wed, but my fellow brat bonkers showed up on Thursday. Should be a zoo on the Bogey Express this weekend. wink

Only if someone sends the ARK!

With the Calawah registering 14' and climbing at 3:30PM, maybe it wouldn't a bad idea if someone sent one out there. Wow! Talk about blown.
Well, so much for the weekend. Honeydos here I come. cry
