Being a natural lefty in a righty world I've develped the ability to use either hand. It doesn't make a bit of difference to me which hand I cast or retrieve with. I own a mix of reels both left and right.

I am left handed and have fished with right handed reels all my life. My fishing buddy is right handed and uses only left handed reels. I have used his left handed reels and have had a hardtime. The biggest thing is the drag it seems backwards when you think you are tighting it you lossening it............................ But I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous rolleyes confused ha ha

For some reason, fishing from a boat with a right-hand crank feels fine, but if I am casting and retrieving, I prefer the left-hand retrieve.

I also chop wood left handed, but like Piper, I look pretty goofy throwing left-handed.

Once I get the fish to the boat, or shore, I always use my dominant right hand to deal with the fish. When fighting the fish with both hands on the rod it's easy to take your right hand off to deal with the fish.

If you ever saw me try to anything other than row with my left hand you'd see why all mine are righties smile

I'll take that back, I did do one thing in my life lefty ... all the years I played hockey when I was younger I played lefty. Go figure smile

I am with Dan S. on this one. I have no problem fishing with a spinning reel and using my left hand to reel. But give me a left handed level wind, and everyone within casting distance better watch out eek I guess when I get good at scrambing eggs with my left hand, then I will get a new reel laugh
