Been a while since I have seen a report so...

Finally talked the neighbor into going fishing. Launched bright and early this morning and immediately headed to Green Point. Made two passes through the area and couldn't find the bait.. Shot over to Fox Point and fished the ledge and "mound." Didn't mark any bait nor a fish! Decided it was time to head to the "ol stand by" mouth of Wollochet. Marked a ton of bait and didn't see on fish on the sonar.

The tide had just switched over to the flood and decided we better hit Gibson before heading back. Had the lines in no more that 5 minutes....

Fish hit a B2/Spin N Glo combo at 137'. Thought for a minute I had a fish over 10#. She was one hot fish. Fish scaled out 7 1/4#.

What a way to break in my new custom rod!

Just to catch you up..... fishing has been spotty down south. Not catching fish at Green like I should be. Been fishing further south lately (Devils Head, Staircase) and have been getting a few nice one here and there.

3 more days of fishing then the wife returns from NY (unless it snows some more!!!!!)

DR,
Been messing around here area 11 for BM while the rivers are tits up... Lots of bait and lots of shakers.. I'm new to winter BM fishing, but i gotta tell ya.. I'm having fun out there and those little guys are scappers!! you really don't know how big they are till you see em!

i would appreciate your opinion on the use of Bait rather than the use of artificials like the B2/squid setup like you use, I missed your BM lecture last month beathead

Thanks Mav.

I won't argue the effectiveness of bait, but I don't use it. Especially this time of year- too many shakers.

Problem with bait (IMO): 1) it is expensive, 2) it is messy, 3) I don't have to check my line every 15 minutes, 4) time consuming. I might throw bait on in the summer, but rarely.

With artificals, I can keep the gear down 30-45 minutes before I have to check it or recharge it = more fishing time.

I was up off Gig Harbor Saturday. I released one that was barely legal (fishing a derby) and 1 small shaker about 18". Ended up catch 6 rockfish to boot.
