This one is for you Bob and Corey!

The day started off great with nice sunny weather and pretty calm seas for the Pacific. Swells really didn't peak over 9 feet. Most of them averaged around 4'. We're getting ready to fish out of the Flyhooker. The owners used to live in Seattle. Great operation and had a wonderful time. If you need a recommendation, this is it. www.flyhooker.com

After a short 15 mile run, we found the tuna. Hmmmm, smoked vac-packed tuna. Yummy! No big ones, but most were of the football variety. Yellow tails and bonitos were common. No dorados, which was a real bummer. That was the one fish I really wanted a live photo of. Oh well.

Filling the cooler up with tuna, we went in search for Mr. Stripped Marlin. We went 2 for 3. Didn't take long for the 1st marlin to be caught. Was in the 160ish pound range. I let my buddy, who's never really fished before, land the first fish. This fish swallowed a surface tossed live bait and was hooked in the gills. This fish eventually died on us and was kept by the crew. Major bummer.

With 10 minutes of fishing time left, LastChance Parker hooked in to another nice 160ish pound marlin! Yee Haw!

This fish went out and down, pulled out about 400 yards of line and I played tug-of-war for about 30 minutes. Had blisters on all my fingers when we finally got it to the boat. My fish was tagged and released, as it was hooked in the corner of the mouth and in great shape. No blood was seen coming from the gills (kiss of death for a marlin).

My buddy isn't that good on the camera, but this is what he managed to take.

Time to let this big fella go!

With a tag in it's back, away this fish went.

Finally, we gave our left over bait to the pelicans and birds in route to the Marina. In all, a great day on Big Blue. Have fun Bob/Corey, and I can't wait to see your photos!

Yeah, we had a good time in Cabo. This was a gift from my old boss 4 years ago. We just now took her up on her offer to use her time share for the week.

A couple more photos that I liked.

This Mexican Sea Chicken followed us in to the marina. It just wanted our left over live mackerals.

Katie and Dad on the beach.

Don't know why anyone would care, but if you want to see the entire Cabo 2003 gallery, feel free.

Great pictures Parker. I love Cabo always have a great time and meet great people down there. I know that beach in front of Pueblo Bonito well, we always stay at the Blanco. Breakfast at the office every morning. I have a timeshare down there at the Plaza Las Glorias I need to find the time to use smile or at least rent it to a fisherman.

Nice fishes and it looks like that strange bright orb thing in the sky was in full view as well. What a concept. Fishing in the sun...

Anyways, I was curious if your captain used circle hooks for the billfish. I know they're becoming a lot more commonplace on a lot of the billfishing grounds. I think Costa Rica just make them required in many areas.

Just wondering if places like Cabo are switching to them yet...

Thanks for the pics Parker smile Looks much warmer than most the adventures we've had together!

Wish I could say our warm trip was to a little better fishing area ... but we'll get some in and some golf, gambling, snorkeling, windsurfing, etc ... so we'll keep plenty busy!

Have you ever done that before? Its loads of fun.

Here's a little hint:

To get really good at it you've got to tie a fish carcass on a string and tow it around... its amazing how fast you can go once that dorsil fin pops up behind you... wink

Ok, here the answers to your questions:

Piper - she was weined by 6 months, but we had introduced a bottle to her by month 3. (soon to be) Dr. Parker works, so she had to boot the kid of the boob.

Caught Steelin - No, not a Vision Hook. Vision really only targets the salmon/steelhead/bass markets.

B. Gray - No, not a circle hook. "J" hook.

Sturgio - see my original post above. www.flyhooker.com $450 for the boat. Put as many, or as few people in it as you'd like. 2 is nice, 4 would be ok, 6 would be pushing it. It was a good American run operation, and I'd highly recommend them. They strongly practice tag & release on their billfish, and the Mexican crew for the boat was fantastic.

Any more questions? laugh

No Piper ... New to us. The place we're stying for half our stay also is a boardsailing center ... and they have a three-day intro course that we're gonna do. I'll suck, but who cares!

Sturgio,
You should hook up with Firedogs offer for the time share, the Plaza Las Glorias is a very cool place to stay, cannot help much about price as the wife surprised me a few Christmas's ago and once for a Fathers day present wink it overlooks a small fishing fleet of "pachangas" landing big blues in a 30' Betram is a blast, but for a measly c-note+6pk, spotting and casting live bait to big blues in a 14 footer w/a 40hp w/o fighting chairs is a RUSH!!!! eek eek
