Here is how I do mine. Sometimes I rig them head down and on smaller worms I sometimes have the hook near the middle of the worm.

Surecatch,

Is that how you rig them for a float or do you also bottom bounce them like that?

I sort of use the same set up but put the corkie on the head and use the next size bigger corkie. Still trying to get enough confidence up to use the float system. Have done GREAT with natives on pink worms bottom bouncing them.

Fishbreath:

That is my rigging for float fishing. I do not bottom bounce my worm. Those that do usually add a Cheater about the size of the worm's head or a little bigger, at the head of the worm. Many guys peg the Cheater down with a toothpick.

This is how I rig a worm for drift fishing. This is a 3" Yamamoto unscented worm with a #2 barbless Gamakatsu hook and a sponge float. I usually fish the worm on a 24-30" leader with a sliding weight set up. Sometimes a little anise scent helps wink

Dave, John:

Thanks for the great pics to go with the explanations...some of us are fairly new at chasing steelies and need the tutoring!

I have yet to hook a steelhead, but it ain't for lack of trying. Been fishing every chance (I live on the Skagit) and while I'm still finding some decent looking Silvers, the steelies have so far escaped..

Did catch a nice chrome buck coho on Monday, about 12 lbs. He nailed some eggs I was floating up at the Howard Miller Park.

Good to know some of you more experienced guys are willing to give us rookies a hand.

Many thanks, and Merry Christmas to y'all!

Mike B
