I work with a lady that brought in 3 old fishing reels. I am wondering if someone may have an idea of how much they may be worth? The first one is a (Pfluger Akron no-1894 ) the second is a (Shakespear Marhoff 1964 model GE ) And the last one is an (Ambassadeur g2600) These are all level winds. They are also all in very good shape especially considereing how old they are!! Any how if anyone has some ides of how much they are worth, I would appreciate it.
Thanks Buck smile

Buck, The book Collector's Guide To Old Fishing Reels values them at ..

(1) Pflueger 8-20 dollars
(2)Shakespeare 10-20 dollars
(3)Ambassadeur 30-50 dollars

Using a book as a reference is OK it can give you an idea as to the rarity of a reel by it's price but you cannot get a real idea of their value from it, whats crap to you or I might be gold to someone else. For instance I have among others a stainless Winona in it's original box the book says 30-50 dollars I paid 75 dollars and felt I stole it I wouldn't ever part with it. Hope this helps laugh

Thanks stlhdfishn, I didn't realize there was a book out there. That makes a lot of sense though. I will let her know what she has.

Buck - Try the National Fishing Lures Collector's Club. They are dedicated to collecting and trading old fishing tackle, primarily lures and reels.

Their website is:

http://nflcc.org/

Their members buy, sell, and trade tons of fishing tackle. If you attend one of their major trade shows, you will see more fishing tackle than most sporting goods stores, including the major retailers (GI Joes, Fisherman's Marine, etc). There is usually alot of antiques and collectables but most of it is slightly used tackle. I haven't been to any shows since I left the East Coast several years ago but they do have shows in the PNW occasionally.
