Anyone going to brave the elements, today? Man, I want to get out, but between the roads, weather, and ball game, I think I'm a couch potatoe today. Maybe tie some rigs up. By the time I get a chance to hit the rivers again, they will probably be punched with this next system.....argh.
Here's to those hardy few!! beer beer

Fun5,

It was a whopping 10 degrees here this morning at 8am.

Went outside to have a smoke...the cold is very dry, but got to me after a few minutes..but then wasn't dressed for it either.

If they weren't generating power on the Baker I'd fish behind the house...but since they are the rivers muddy. Plus its the wife's birthday...so going fishing (cold or not) wouldn't score too many good points..

Nope...a good day to hang out, watch a couple new DVDs, spend time with the wife, etc.

Mike

I went out to the Sol Duc today and fished for about 2 hours. Fortunately I was warm but my guides kept freezing over so that's why I didn't fish very long. Oh well at least there wasn't much traffic.

Fished the Skagit Saturday and I'm still cold!!! My boat has little frozen gobs of egg goo speckling it anywhere a piece of bait touched it. Got to be nuts to drive 60+ miles on an ice rink to fish in those conditions.

I went ... mighty chilly! But I've ceratinly been a whole lot worse off in some of the just above frezzing windy rainstorms. Equipment issues were bad today ... no operational anchor most of the day, anti-reverse berarings not engaging, loads of ice on guides, spray from water weighing down the oars as they glazed over, etc.

Is it time to go on vacation yet?? smile

Fished for steelies off the beach on Whidbey today. Lots of casts with only 2 follows to the beach. Cold but dry. I had so many layers on that I looked like either the Pillsbury dough boy, or the Michelin man. No fish but more fun than sitting in the house watching the Sea Hawks lose.

I fished the Whidbey beaches today also, for about 2 hours. (no fish)

Thought I had enough layers on but was wrong. Very cold breeze off Admirlty.

No fish for me, but the wind started to calm right after the Hasselback through his interseption.

Bob, you earned your money today. One of those days...

I live on top of the hill in Eastgate Bellevue. There is no way I'm gonna try to get a trailer off this hill until it warms up. I'd have a boat passing me on the way down...

Not to mention the crackers you had in the boat that MISSED three fish. You worked your tail off in those arctic temps to put us on fish and we just couldn't seem to stick the hooks to 'em.

JEff D: Hey it's Lofty again checking in on your hours logged up @ Bush Pt for salty winter chrome! You get any action up there this season so far. Strikes, follows, hook ups ? Keep it up! take a picture of your winter chromer when it comes and post it please.
I've never seen winter steel in the saltchuck...

Lofty,
I think Wolverine should answer that question for you, as I am just a rookie at this fishery.

Last week I moved down the beach to cast to a Steelhead I saw finning on the surface just 15 feet or so off shore and a guy walked up, started fishing in the spot I just left and hooked up first cast. OUCH!

No fish for me yet, just mild frostbite. If I am so lucky to land one, it'll be my avatar for sure!
